September Fuddy- A Pallet Structure:
Ever wanted to build a small structure or craft studio?
Where: Spirit Pine Sanctuary is located near Los Olivos, CA on Figueroa Mountain.
When/What: We will be building a small structure out of reclaimed pallets this fall. The pallets will be stuffed with straw-clay.
The structure will focus on passive heating/cooling, beauty, efficiency and storage. Our simple designs for small, adaptable structures are flexible for many situations and can include many sustainable elements.
We will share and learn from these and craft something wonderful together.
The project will begin with us going over design, then foundation work and then building from the ground up. We will have many materials available to us on the mountain. This structure will engage us in knowledge that we can apply to many buildings and a variety of construction methods. A wonderful opportunity to learn about design, foundation, drainage, walls, insulation, thermal mass, windows, doors, roof, plasters, floors, shelves, art, etc!
